Discover the legend of "Isli and Tislit," a timeless love story born in the heart of the High Atlas. A tale of two lovers separated by tribal rivalry, whose tears created two enchanting lakes that remain a global symbol of love.

Deep in the High Atlas Mountains, near the town of Er-Rich and the Imilchil region, lie two enchanting lakes that tell one of the oldest and saddest love stories in Moroccan heritage: the legend of Isli (the groom) and Tislit (the bride). It is the authentic Amazigh version of "Romeo and Juliet."

A Love Defying Traditions Legend has it that a young man from the "Ait Ibrahim" tribe fell deeply in love with a beautiful young woman from the rival "Ait Yaaza" tribe. Their love was pure, but a historical blood feud between the two tribes stood as an impenetrable barrier to their marriage. Their request was strictly denied, and they were doomed to eternal separation.

Lakes Formed by Tears Faced with the cruelty of tradition, the two lovers had no choice but to cry over their tragic fate. It is told that the young man climbed one mountain, while the girl climbed another facing him. They wept day and night until their abundant tears formed two great lakes. Consumed by sorrow, they both drowned in their own tears. One lake was named "Isli" (Lake of the Groom) and the other "Tislit" (Lake of the Bride).

The Engagement Festival: The Triumph of Love In remorse for this tragic historical mistake, the feuding tribes decided to end their hostilities and allow the youth of the region to choose their life partners freely. Since then, the annual "Imilchil Marriage Festival" is held, where tribes gather in a festive atmosphere to celebrate marriages and honor the memory of Isli and Tislit.

An Unmissable Destination Today, exploring the lakes of Isli and Tislit, starting from Er-Rich, is a unique spiritual and natural experience. The location offers not only breathtaking landscapes but also a natural monument to eternal love.
