Mrirt (also written in some historical and foreign sources as M'rirt) is considered one of the most important mountainous urban centers in the Kingdom of Morocco. This city sits proudly in the heart of the Middle Atlas mountains, administratively belonging to the Khenifra province. It is located about 30 kilometers from the provincial capital and approximately 90 kilometers from the Ismaili capital, Meknes. This strategic location has made it a vital link and a significant crossroads in the region.

Breathtaking Mountain Nature and Strategic Location Mrirt derives its charm from its exceptional natural surroundings. It is located close to the springs of the famous "Oum Er-Rbia" river, one of the largest and most important rivers in Morocco, which gives the area a rich ecological character. The city is surrounded by a majestic mountain range that is snow-capped in winter and lush green in spring. "Mount Taghaft" (or Taghalft) is one of the most famous of these mountains, standing as a natural guardian of the city and providing a mountain climate characterized by pure and healthy air.

Demographics and the Ait Sckoko Tribes Mrirt is distinguished by its pure Amazigh character, with the Amazigh people making up the vast majority of its population. The city is the main stronghold and the beating heart of the ancient "Ait Sckoko" tribes, from which several major clans and families branch out, having contributed to building the region's history. The most prominent of these are: Ait Sidi Larbi, Ait Sidi Youssef, Ait Sidi Ahmed Ou Ahmed, and Ait Taarabt. According to the 2004 census, the city's population reached about 35,196 people distributed among 5,423 families, a number that has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years.
